JOB TITLE:  UX Designer
REPORTS TO:  VP of Software Design


The UX designer will create UX deliverables and functional specifications for a wide variety of products and services within the ECRS retail technology platform. The UX deliverables and specifications will serve as "blueprints" that describe the user experience and business logic that software developers will use to create a working product.

The UX deliverables and functional specifications will include detailed problem statements, business requirements, user interface mockups, step-wise use cases, work-flow diagrams, regulatory considerations, best practices, features and benefits, and a glossary of terms and definitions.

The UX designer will work on cross-departmental teams that include other UX designers, technical writers, QA analysts, software developers, support technicians, product trainers, consultants, and marketing specialists.


To design high quality developer-facing UX deliverables and functional specifications that contribute to the evolution of the ECRS retail technology platform. The UX designer will be expected to bring a creative dimension to the product development process, which will include a deep focus on improving both the retail user experience for all scenarios of use, as well as the end-consumer experience for e-commerce transaction scenarios.


  • Create UX design deliverables and specifications that explain to developers the functional and aesthetic details of features that require implementation.
  • Revise specifications as needed based on ongoing dialog with team members over the course of the product development life cycle.
  • Collaborate with customers to gather and verify business requirements and feature details.
  • Work with developers to determine design milestones for features.


  • Strong working knowledge of user experience design techniques and processes.
  • Excellent portfolio that illustrates UX design skill set.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of industry standard UX design tools (Adobe XD, Axure, etc).
  • Strong written communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Willingness to learn unfamiliar technologies and applications.
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism, and to improve output accordingly.
  • Professional experience and/or academic training in UX design is required.
